Phantom Cash Card
Bitcoin-Check: this program is ranked in our database but not fully listed — this page answers whether it is a real bitcoin card and what happens to your BTC.
The wallet-first card: Phantom's Solana wallet issues a virtual Visa that spends a USD-pegged stablecoin balance (CASH) through Lead Bank, with Bridge converting at authorization - and the conversion consent documented verbatim in the cardholder agreement, which almost no competitor does. It is also narrow: US-only (not New York), virtual-only with no ATM access, full identity verification through Stripe for the card while the wallet itself stays no-KYC, and a 1.75% debit-card funding fee that makes card-funded top-ups expensive. A well-documented niche product: fund it via ACH (0.30%), not by card, and treat the wallet's no-KYC claim as ending at the card's front door.
The bitcoin flow
Source note
Cash account = a dedicated Solana address holding CASH (Phantom's USD-pegged stablecoin), shown in USD. Funding: Stripe deposits by debit card 1.75%, credit card 3.50%, Apple/Google Pay (US + EU member states); US ACH direct deposit 0.30% (3-5 business days), domestic wire 1.00%; ACH withdrawal standard free. BTC reaches the card only through an explicit in-app swap into CASH - the sale is the user's swap at app-quoted rates, after which exposure is stable. At payment the Lead Bank agreement treats the debit itself as the sell: initiation of a debit transaction is "your express and irrevocable consent to sell Stablecoins and load the fiat currency proceeds onto your card" (bridge.xyz/card-agreements/phantom-card, checked 2026-10-05), with Bridge converting CASH to USD so the merchant is paid as a standard Visa transaction.
The honest answer
Overview
This is not a real bitcoin card. The Phantom Cash Card is a US-only virtual Visa prepaid card issued by Lead Bank, powered by Phantom’s Solana-based wallet and its USD-pegged stablecoin, CASH. You cannot load bitcoin directly, and there is no documented bitcoin integration. Instead, you fund the card via debit, credit, or bank transfer, which are converted into CASH. The card spends by converting CASH to USD at the point of sale through Bridge (a Stripe company). Bitcoin holders looking to maintain BTC custody or spending flow will find no utility here.
Fees in practice
The card has no monthly or issuance fees. Funding with a US debit card costs 1.75%, credit card 3.50%, and ACH direct deposit 0.30%. International purchases incur a 1% FX fee plus a $0.30 fixed charge per transaction. There are no ATM fees because ATM withdrawals are not supported - this is a virtual-only card with no physical counterpart yet. Fast ACH withdrawals cost $1.00 flat plus 0.75% (minimum $1.50). For a load using a debit card, the fee is 1.75% of the amount added. If spent internationally, an additional 1% plus $0.30 applies per transaction. Stablecoin-to-CASH swaps are free, but selling CASH into other tokens costs 0.85%.
Verdict
Avoid this card if you're a bitcoin holder seeking to preserve your BTC flow - it doesn’t support bitcoin at all. It may suit Solana users wanting a virtual Visa tied to a stablecoin, but even then, the high funding fees and lack of ATM access limit utility. The US-only availability and missing physical card further reduce its appeal.
The bitcoin flow
Bitcoin does not factor into the Phantom Cash Card at any stage. There is no option to load BTC, no Lightning support, and no mechanism to spend or earn bitcoin. The card operates entirely within Phantom’s ecosystem using CASH, a USD-pegged stablecoin on Solana. Since bitcoin is not involved, it is never sold - so there is no tax event related to BTC disposal. However, this also means the card breaks the bitcoin flow entirely. Minimum top-up amounts are not documented, but funding occurs through fiat rails: debit card (1.75%), credit card (3.50%), or ACH (0.30%).
Rewards
The Phantom Cash Card does not offer any cashback or rewards program. A 2025 blog post mentioned cash back as “upcoming,” but no details have been documented since. As of now, there are no advertised rewards for using the card, whether in CASH, sats, or any other token.
Custody & risk
Your CASH balance is held in a dedicated Solana address, but the card program is custodial - Phantom, Bridge (Stripe), and Lead Bank control access and transaction flow. The card requires full KYC via Stripe, meaning your identity is verified and shared with third parties, despite Phantom’s claim that it doesn’t see your legal name. The operator structure is transparent: Lead Bank is the regulated issuer, Bridge is the program manager, and Galileo handles disputes. No incidents have been documented, and Phantom is a well-established wallet provider with over 20 million users. However, the lack of a physical card despite a 2025 promise and the high on-ramp fees are red flags. Data quality is verified, so risks are operational, not informational.
Pros & cons
Pros
- sale timing documented verbatim: the stablecoin sells at each debit - the clearest conversion consent in this market
- wallet-first UX: the no-KYC Phantom wallet pairs with a fully documented Visa prepaid program (issuer, program manager, dispute processor all named)
- limits published and improving automatically: $2,000/day standard, $5,000/day after 30 days of account history
- no monthly fee, no inactivity fee; ACH withdrawal standard is free
- dispute path concrete: Galileo processing, 60-day window, per the agreement
Cons
- US-only (not New York); EU users get Cash funding but not the debit card
- virtual-only: no physical card, no ATM access at all
- full identity verification through Stripe required for the card - the wallet's no-KYC claim does not extend to it
- funding by debit card costs 1.75%, by credit card 3.50% - expensive for an on-ramp
- no cashback or rewards of any kind
- BTC must be swapped to CASH by the user first (app-quoted rate) before it can fund spending
