KAST
Bitcoin-Check: this program is ranked in our database but not fully listed — this page answers whether it is a real bitcoin card and what happens to your BTC.
The most complete stablecoin-spending account on the market: US/EU virtual bank accounts from anywhere, Visa Platinum cards with real 1.5% USD cashback on the free tier, instant cashback and no spending caps. Full KYC and a young operator are the trade-offs; the paid tiers only make sense for heavy spenders.
The bitcoin flow
Source note
Stablecoin deposits (USDC/USDT) are converted to USD 1:1 with 0% spread and 0% deposit fee; non-stablecoin crypto deposits (BTC/ETH/SOL etc.) auto-convert to stablecoins at 2-5% depending on token; USD bank deposits: ACH $2 flat, FedWire $15 flat; European payment-link deposits 0.6% processing + 0.3% FX (min $100)
The honest answer
Overview
KAST is not a real bitcoin card - it does not allow direct on-chain Bitcoin top-ups. Instead, it’s a crypto-friendly neobank that lets you load BTC by auto-converting it to USDC at 2 - 5% spread. The Visa debit card is issued by a Singapore-based fintech using regulated partners for custody and payments. It’s built for global users wanting USD-denominated spending with instant cashback, but you must pass full KYC. Bitcoin is converted during deposit, breaking the native flow.
Fees in practice
KAST charges no monthly or issuance fees on its free Standard tier. Top-ups with stablecoins (USDC/USDT) are free and converted 1:1 to USD. Non-stablecoin deposits like BTC incur a 2 - 5% auto-conversion fee. USD ACH deposits cost $2 flat, FedWire $15. European deposits via payment link cost 0.6% processing plus 0.3% FX (min $100). There’s a 2% FX fee on non-USD card spend and a $3 flat + 2% ATM fee (with 2% FX on non-USD withdrawals). For a $1,000 non-USD card spend, you’d pay $20 in FX fees - plus any prior BTC conversion spread.
Verdict
KAST is not a bitcoin-native card - it converts your BTC to USDC at a steep spread, selling your bitcoin when you deposit. It’s best for stablecoin users wanting a globally accessible Visa with instant USD cashback and no monthly fees. Avoid if you want to keep your bitcoin whole; consider it only if you prioritize spending flexibility and KYC-compliant banking rails over custody control.
The bitcoin flow
You cannot load Bitcoin directly onto the KAST card. When you deposit BTC, it is auto-converted to USDC at a 2 - 5% spread, which means your bitcoin is sold at that moment - a taxable event in most jurisdictions. The timing of the sale is not explicitly documented, but since conversion happens upon deposit, it is effectively sold when you top up. At the point of spending, you’re using USD-backed stablecoins via Visa. There is no Lightning funding option, and no documented minimum top-up amount for crypto.
Rewards
KAST pays 1.5% USD cashback on all eligible spend for Standard users, credited instantly and available as spendable balance. Paid tiers earn higher rates: Premium ($1,000/year) gets 2% cashback + 1% KAST Points, Private ($10,000/year) gets 3% + 2%. Rewards are in USD, not bitcoin, so there’s no sats accumulation. Cashback has no cap on Standard, but earn rates are limited to $50,000/month on Premium and $200,000/month on Private.
Custody & risk
Your funds are held in custodial accounts managed by KAST through licensed partners Fireblocks and BitGo. KAST itself is not a bank but a financial technology company, so your balances are not FDIC or SIPC insured. The operator is well-funded with $80M in Series A capital and partnerships with Solana and Pudgy Penguins, but it’s a young company founded in 2024. Full KYC is required, and while no incidents are documented, Reddit reports confirm real-world shipping and customs issues with physical cards. Data quality is verified, but the lack of a public country list raises transparency concerns.
