FAQ
What is a Bitcoin debit card?
A Visa or Mastercard that spends your bitcoin: you fund it (directly with BTC, or via in-app conversion), and it pays merchants in fiat. The merchant never sees bitcoin - the card handles the conversion.
When does my bitcoin actually get sold?
Depends on the card: at top-up (price locked at load), per transaction (price risk until you pay), or manually in the app. The comparison lists this per card - it is the most consequential detail most reviews skip.
Do Bitcoin debit cards require KYC?
Most do - they touch regulated fiat rails. A small number of cards operate without identity verification; those trade away regulatory protection and carry higher counterparty risk.
Which cards pay cashback in bitcoin?
Cards in the Earn lane pay rewards in actual BTC. Rates, caps, payout timing and volatility caveats are documented per card. A BTC-denominated reward is worth its percentage only at the moment you sell.
Can I use a bitcoin card at ATMs?
Most physical-card providers support ATM withdrawals, usually with a percent or fixed fee and daily limits. Virtual-only cards do not support ATM cash.
What happens to my bitcoin if the provider goes under?
On custodial cards your balance is an unsecured claim against the operator - the dead-cards archive documents programs that stranded balances. Keep only spending money on any custodial card.
Is spending bitcoin taxable?
In most jurisdictions, yes - spending is a disposal of a capital asset. Keep the transaction export your card app provides.
